SUMMER EXCURSIONS 2010

1. SUNDAY, 30 MAY 2010.

Title: Four Drogheda Churches.

Tour leader: Mr. John McCullen.

Venue: Please assemble at St Mary’s R.C. Church, James Street at 2:30 p.m.

Visits will be made to the following churches. A brief talk will be given in each: St. Mary’s R.C. Church (John McCullen), St. Augustine’s Church (Fr. Iggy O’Donovan, O.S.A.), St. Peter’s Church of Ireland (Ms. Deirdre Howard-Russell) and St. Peter’s R.C. Church (Mr. Patrick Carr).

2. SATURDAY, 26 JUNE 2010

ALL DAY OUTING TO CO. MONAGHAN.

Visits will be made to: Clones Lace Centre, Hilton Park & Gardens, Rossmore Park and Bessmount House, Monaghan.

There will be a brief talk at Clones followed by tea and coffee. There will be a tour at both Hilton Park and Bessmount Houses. Evening meal will be at the Nuremore Hotel (approx 6 p.m.).

Coach leaves Ardee Castle at 8.30 a.m. sharp; Drogheda (Carpark at Homebase on the Donore Road) at 8.55 a.m.; Dundalk (Magnet Cinema) at 9:30 a.m.

Subscription (including bus fare, evening meal, admission charges and gratuities): MEMBERS: €60.00 NON-MEMBERS: €62.00.

Intending travellers are recommended to bring a flask and food pack for a picnic lunch at Rossmore Park. Early booking is advisable. Bookings, which must be accompanied by a deposit of €20.00 per person, close on 19 June and may be made with:

Title: Churches and Houses of Cooley.

Tour Leader: Dr. Christine Casey.

Venue: Please assemble at Ballymascanlan Church at 10.30 a.m.

Intending participants are recommended to bring a flask and food pack for a picnic lunch. Visits will be made to: Ballymascanlan Church, Bellurgan Park House, Grange Church, Carlingford: the Mint and Boher Church.

Subscription: €8 per person (Covers admission to Bellurgan Park & gratuities).

4. SATURDAY, 18 SEPTEMBER 2010

Title: Dowth.

Tour Leader: Dr. Conor Brady.

Venue: Please assemble at the carpark opposite the entrance to Townley Hall on the Drogheda-Slane road at 2:30 p.m.

Visits will be made to: Dowth Henge, Dowth Megalithic Tomb, Dowth Passage Tomb (outside only) and Dowth Church and Graveyard

Suitable footware is advised.

Excursions 1 and 4: There will be a voluntary charge to cover expenses.
